rainy day blues

Neither our Chick nor fabulous (and adoptable!) foster Gonzo Bunny-Ears is crazy about the rain. And with those glistening white coats, can you blame them? Gonzo will never turn down a walk, but he does get a little scowly-faced when the big drops start to fall onto his inquisitive little face.

It stormed and rained over the weekend and again yesterday. During the breaks between showers, the pups got to go out and pitter patter around in the puddles, but in truth, it was without enthusiasm. When the weather is soppy, they’d much rather snuggle up indoors by the window where it’s nice and dry.

  1. I wonder if the reason many dogs don’t like the rain is because so many of the good smells are washed away. If we could have rain that enhanced smells, we might be pulled out the door every time the clouds come out.

Great pictures! My husband always tells me not to take pictures with the light source behind my subject. I guess it’s just a matter of knowing what you’re doing. The ones in the doorway were terrific.

  2. I am also over all this rain. It’s no fun (and our grass has grown like crazy!!).

Does Chick ever get to have a dog bed to himself now? Seems like Gonzo squeezes up next to Chick whenever he gets a chance 😉

  3. Great photos, if I am out in the rain with my dogs they could care less.. Luna will sometimes give me looks if I send her out to do her business alone. I like that you put the dog bed by the door, especially because it allowed that lovely backlit ear shot. I sometimes will do the same for Luna and open the shade. She enjoys the sun. Hopefully you are able to get out some today as it’s gorgeous. Headed out again now to run some boarding dogs.

Hey I know you are probably busy enough already with your foster, but if you could check out the post on wyatt’s sister I put up, we are looking for a new home for her. Maybe you know of someone. Thanks

  4. Darwin’s right there with Chick and Gonzo Bunny Ears. She hates the rain. She shakes like a maniac if one drop touches her head. Then once we get inside she’ll rub her head on everything to dry off. Our drama queen!

  5. Ish! I don’t like rainy days either. It’s a well-known fact that us bullies are made out of sugar and will melt if we’re out in the rain too long.

PeeS. I just read your last postie and YAY for Precious/Luna and her new family! Bat-eared doggies, UNITE!

  6. Anouk, being a tsarina, refuses to go out when it’s raining, or when her feet might get wet.Wheaten terriers are an Irish breed. Somehow I don’t think Anouk’s ancestors would’ve been able to get away with such prima donna like behaviour.
An Irish farm dog who’s afraid of the rain would’ve been pretty useless in the Emerald Isle.

  7. Aleksandra – are you a photographer? You always get such great photos! Especially the one of Gonzo by the door – really shows off those famous ears!! My Corgi is okay with mist/light rain; but if it starts to be a driving rain – forget it! And add in some wind and he’s not going outside if he has any say in the matter.
