Gosh you guys, for the past few weeks Doodlebug and I have been SO EXCITED we could just squeal. And the pressure of keeping our BIG EXCITING SECRET under wraps has been so intense that we’ve been huddled up squeezing each other’s paws to keep it together. Just look how determined we have been!!
But today’s the day. We have a double — no — a triple — no — a quadruple — no a FIVE-DUPPLE whammy for you.
I already thought that Chix-A-Lot Fridays are just about the funnest thing on the planet, but a Chix-A-Lot Friday with a fun contest, a few big reveals, and an amazing give-away?? This one really takes the cake!
The first big surprise is this: our Doodlebug’s custom portrait by our very talented friend Kim at Yellow Brick Home has arrived! Just look at the Dude in all his beautiful glory:

To be totally for reals with you, friends, it’s hard to describe how cool these little paintings are. The photos don’t do them justice at all. Kim paints them with these tiny little paint brushes the size of one of my whiskers, and you can tell how much love, talent, and perfectionism goes into each one. There is so much detail. There must be 4 million different shades in Doodlebug’s beautiful red furs!

Oh I’ve been admiring these portraits ever since I saw them on Two Pitties in the City…just gorgeous! How exciting that you know all the breeds that make up beautiful Doodlebug. We have been toying with the idea of using Wisdom Panel to find out Piper’s breeds.
So my Piper has a similar look to Doodle, except Doodle has more white on his face. I’m going to guess what folks tell us all the time about Piper.
(With fingers crossed for good luck) I’m guessing American Staffordshire Terrier, & Labrador Retriever. I’m sure there is something else but really couldn’t even begin to guess. 🙂

With that cute little petite forehead, just like my pup….Im thinking doodlebug is some american pitbull terrier..but those ears must be sourced from some speckles of american bulldog…and there is another breed I see in him..but I cant remember the name – lol…either way he is allllll cuteness! which goes great with Sir Chick’s dashing handsomeness 😉

I just re-read the Doodlebug saga from the beginning to look at all the pictures of him. I was definitely one of the folks cheering for team foster-fail at the time. I love seeing the progression from “we love him, but we can’t keep him” to “Chick loves him” to “he’s ours!”
We’ve been waiting until Badger and Mushroom get a little older and more set in their looks before getting a painting from YBH, but I just can’t pass up this opportunity. Plus, I love guessing dog breeds! I’m still trying to convince Llamaentity that it’s worth buying the tests for Badger and Mushroom just for the fun of it.
I think the Dude is mostly Pointer, with some American Staffordshire Terrier and Whippet thrown in.

First off, something is causing Doodlebug’s ears to stand up. And his eyes are kinda golden. So I’m going out on a limb here to say there’s some Australian Shepherd in the mix along with American Staffordshire Terrier and German Short Haired Pointer.
Of course, I think his real breed is All American Dog.
