***For every comment* left on Love and a Six-Foot Leash posts from December 15th-December 31st 2010, we will donate one pound of high-quality dog food to Lollie’s sugar daddy, the Montgomery County Humane Society. Together, by spreading the word about adoptable Lollie Wonderdog, we can find her a forever home. We are up to 162 comments / pounds of food already!***
Friends of Lollie, you’re going to have to wait an extra day for her second open-forum Q&A session. Thank you to all who have submitted questions; she is working out her responses right now. It’s hard to hold a pen, you know, without opposable thumbs.
The reason for our delay is that something very cute happened last night and we wanted to write about it right away. I came home from work, and was delighted to find a package on our doorstep. It’s a holiday gift from Flash! (For those of you who don’t already know Flash, he is our neighbor’s lovely yellow lab and a key subject of Lollie’s affection.)
It turns out that Flash, possibly with help from his human siblings, baked doggie treats for Lollie and Ty. Check out these dog biscuits and doggie “chocolates” made of carob (don’t worry, it’s dog-safe). Beautiful, right?
Well as you can imagine, Lollie was thrilled to sniff this package.
She could hardly contain her excitement, giving me The Look that Chick has taught her over the past few weeks.
After a few minutes of posing with her present, she just couldn’t bear it any longer—check out her squirmy “mom, pleeeeeeeeease!!” look:
Needless to say, she loved the treats. She sampled a cookie and a bit of the “chocolate,” and when I put it away to save for later, she sat by the cabinet for about 15 minutes, willing the door to open itself and present the treats to her once more.
Thank you Flash, for your very thoughtful present!
*limit 250lbs of dog food
Alex, this is such a great site, and a great cause. Your photos are so evocative – Lollie just jumps off the screen. She’s lucky to have you.
What a great idea & so sweet of Flash!
That’s so nice! No wonder Lollie is so sweet on Flash 😉
She’s just too cute! I know we’ll see you, but will we see her at Christmas!? 😉
Great, see you all then!
Thanks for the kind words 🙂 We are now following you (sorry it took so long!)
Lollie, m’dear, you are just too good to be true. My mom’s best friend from NC sent up a box of goodies for Christmas, including something for me. Mom wisely left the box on the bottom shelf of the kitchen cart, where I could get to it the minute they left the house *without* me last Saturday morning.
I really did a number on that box! Got right to the large green plastic stocking filled with my rawhide treats, but sadly, I couldn’t rip through the plastic just then. So I tackled a couple of the other presents instead. Left shreds of wrapping paper ALL over the family room floor.
Then had to bury the evidence — I hid all of the other presents (they were small) in the crack of the futon and my Grandmom’s easy chair.
And then I hid myself. They thought I would stay downstairs just because they babygated the staircase. But no! I’d been waiting for just such a moment as this to show that I *do* know how to outsmart the gate!
When they finally came home and started calling my name, I ignored them. The weird thing is, my mom is so big on positive training, she thought I’d forgotten all about what I did and forgave me! So you see, it’s very sweet that you’re so angelic and all that, but in the home and heart of a loving foster and a loving forever mom, you can get away with practically anything! Go Lollie!
I am in love with the picture of her where she is stretching her neck out saying please and the one before it too! Lollie is so expressive! It’s insane!
Oh, Lollie. Moms sure do luvs to torture us, don’t they? My mom does the SAME thing to me. “Just one more picture, Mayzie. Wait. Hold on. That one didn’t turn out. Just ONE MORE.” Yeesh!
Anyways, I think it’s awfully sweet that you gots yummy treats from your neighbor/boyfurend. They sure did look yummy!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Morgan officially has a crush on Lollie. They both love snacks.
amazingly the cutest thing ever…it must be nice to have such thoughtful neighbors!
What a great surprise. That is very ‘May Day’ of Flash; there should be so many more excuses/holidays to do this throughout the year. It is funny how many parallels I am finding among us. I really do look forward to reading your blog each day; so many good photos and stories!
You’re lucky to have such a nice neighbor!
What a thoughtful gift!
Love the photos of Lollie and her treats…what a cutie!
